Assists recovery in the workplace by providing and enabling a timetabled graduation to normal duties, supporting the employer and employee with problem solving to overcome barriers, and strategies to manage temporary or permanent changes in capacity. Involves liaison between relevant parties including Employee, Manager, Health Professionals, Union and family. Written return to work plans identifying suitable duties, alternative duties, hours, and progressions are agreed and communicated. Monitoring and reporting occurs. Planning can start prior to work incapacity such as before planned surgery and during early recovery phases from illness or injury, allowing appropriate equipment and services to be in place and to maximise future capacity by early return to work.
